Controller

Location: South Whitley, IN
Reports to:  CFO & CEO
Job type: Full-Time


Summary:  Assists in the planning, organizing, directing, and controlling the accounting and control function of Ag Plus and Synergy Feeds. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Supports Ag Plus’s stated Vision, Mission, and Business Values.
  • Projects a positive attitude to customers and employees at all times.
  • Provides outstanding and courteous customer service.
  • Read and follow company employee policies.
  • Assists in overseeing all accounting systems software and Information Technologies (IT) for operations, accuracy, and updates.
  • Review and balance company accounts to ensure they are in balance.
  • Assists in preparing the monthly income statement, balance sheet, and budget comparison for the CFO, CEO, and the Board of Directors.
  • Plans and oversees the assigned internal controls implemented upon the Controller's approval.
  • Backup for the bi-weekly payroll and HR duties.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual tax forms.
  • Assists in assigned grain accounting duties.
  • Ensures the smooth flow of information to management. 
  • Assist in all company audits.
  • Serves as a backup in monitoring the daily CoBank activity and performs the daily functions if needed.
  • Review company policies regarding accounting, cash flow, computer, software, and currency security for effectiveness and recommend improvements to the CFO.
  • Accept additional responsibilities and duties as directed by the CEO and CFO.

Supervisory Responsibilities:  This job has no supervisory responsibilities. 

Qualifications:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience:  Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from a four-year College or university with a major in accounting or business. CPA certification is not required, but it would be very helpful. Experience in auditing/accounting in a cooperative would be very helpful.

Work Environment: The work environment can be very hectic at times. The candidate must be able to deal with deadlines, including working additional hours as needed to meet Company deadlines. The noise level in the workplace is usually moderate.


Custom Applicator

Work Location: South Whitley, IN, Woodburn, IN, or Fort Wayne, IN (Maples)

Job Type: Full-Time; 1st Shift. Overtime is mandatory during agronomy seasons.


Job Summary: Performs custom application for the assigned locations by performing
the following duties personally or with the support of other plant personnel.

  • Responsible for the proper application and placement of chemicals and fertilizers.
  • Responsible for upkeep and repairs of all vehicles and equipment.
  • Must know, understand, and comply with all safety and governmental regulations.
  • Maintain and service all Agronomy equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of all chemicals and their control abilities.
  • Assist all other departments in their busy seasons.
  • Assist with other projects in the shop.
  • Must possess basic computer skills.
  • Provide positive customer service & employee relations.
  • Mandatory overtime during seasonal operation.


Education and Experience Required: Custom applicator license or ability to get an Ag CDL. Must have a clean driving record; no moving violations over the last two years.

Supervisory Responsibilities: No supervisory responsibilities.


Energy Transport Driver

Work Location: New Haven, IN

Job Type: Full-Time; 1st Shift


Job Summary: Deliver Liquid Petroleum and/or Propane to bulk plant locations and/or customers.

  • Local/regional delivery routes
  • Responsible for the timely delivery of products to assigned locations.
  • Maintain the truck in good working order.
  • Drive in a safe manner.
  • No overnights are required.
  • Mandatory overtime during seasonal operations.
  • Perform additional tasks that may be required.


Education and/or Experience Required: Valid CDL Class A or B with Tanker & Hazmat endorsement (or ability to get endorsement).

Agronomy Sales Specialist

Work Location: Woodburn, IN (Woodburn Ag Facility)

Job Type: Full-Time; 1st Shift

Hours: Monday-Friday: 8:00a-4:30p, Saturday: Seasonal

Job Summary: The Agronomy Sales Specialist will work with farmers to promote Ag Plus programs related to the marketing of products, services, and applications in a way that will optimize market Ag Plus’s market share, improve efficiency, and achieve the company mission statement and goals. The Agronomy Sales Specialist is responsible for proper recommendations and placement of chemicals and fertilizers and the operations of their assigned computers and equipment. Seed sales will also be an integral part of the position. The Agronomy Sales Specialist must work with customers to develop a seed program promoting Ag Plus’s seed business growth. The Agronomy Sales Specialist is also responsible for maintaining and building customer relationships within their assigned territory that grows the agronomy sales volumes of Ag Plus. The position will include field scouting and working with management to coordinate spread, spray, and lime scheduling at the location.

  • Compile lists of current and prospective customers for use as sales leads.
  • Must know, understand, and comply with all safety and government regulations.
  • Basic knowledge of all chemicals and their abilities of control.
  • Responsible for seasonal fertilizer and chemical sales, including making accurate price and quantity quotes with correct terms.
  • Responsible for travels throughout the territory to establish and maintain customer relationships within an assigned territory.
  • Available to assist other departments in their peak seasons.
  • Responsible for recommendations and computer work for fertilizer/chemical and seed.
  • Make regular sales calls to customers promoting the products that the company sells.
  • Work with the management team to grow the business, including seed.
  • Acquire the proper licenses to perform the jobs necessary at the location.
  • Perform other duties that the supervisor may direct.

 

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent from a 4-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Bagged Feed Delivery Driver

Work Location: South Whitley, IN


Job Type: Full-Time; 1st Shift


Job Summary: Deliver bagged feed to local/regional customers.

Job Requirements: Valid driver's license with a clean record. Ability to pass DOT physical.
